How to connect a dvd player to the Vizio model#VW37LHDTV40A...

I am trying to connect a dvd player to my TV. I have ComCast Cable. I cannot locate video on my remote control. Do I need to connect the cable line to my dvd player. I have the red, yellow and white cables connected to the TV. I am unable to get the video to come thru the TV.

0 I just bought a sony dvd-blue ray DVD player. I hooked the dvd player to Vizio TV with HDMI cable to input 2. I have comcast cable also. I use Cable remote for tv and dvd remote for the player. A few extra steps but easy to operate.
