remote stop working during changing to netflix se...

remote stop working during changing to netflix setting. TV showed loading bar in process, stopped in middle of process. I switched back to regular tv, which it did but would do no other functions. replaced batteries twice to no availe. Tv ill do all functions except volume from direct tv control. HELP
