we had the tv for just under a year, the cable was out so my husband and I were trying to hook our laptop to the tv, and were trying to locate a cord that would connect the two. My husband found a cord that had one USB end and the other end fit the service port. The cord was not connected on the USB side, but my husband connected the other side into the service port. Afterwards the tv turned off and will not turn back on. We contacted Vizio and they said the motherboard was shorted out due to connecting the cord into the service port. Now we are trying to find someone to help us figure out how to fix this problem. We cannot get ahold of anyone, and the service company that Vizio reccomended does not have anyone available to help us.

5 I did the same thing as everyone....when I called Vizio, it took the 16 year old kid 30 minutes to tell me the warranty was not voided due to "touching" the service port. It is absolutely insane they have basically a "self-destruct" button on the tv. No one in their right mind would think by merely touching the end of a USB (that was not connected to anything....I was just trying to see if the small end fit like everyone else) would kill the tv.

5 It's not difficult to replace, and can be done in about 45 minutes by anyone that is comfortable replacing computer parts.

5 I am comfortable with replacing it myself. I just need to know the part number as when I search the part suppliers, there appear to be similar type "boards" for this TV. I want to make sure I order the correct part. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks

5 Start with the full model numer of your TV (VX32LHDTV10A) Go to http://www.discount-merchant.com or similar website and find your model, then look on YOUR board for the part number. (see picture) The website will tell you the part number for each component and what model it goes to: MAKE: VIZIO MODEL: VP42HDTV20A DESCRIPTION: PCB - INTERFACE P/N: 0171-4071-0032

0 I did the exact same thing! I feel like an idiot but there are so many inputs and different ways to connect tvs these days. Plus, why would Visio leave an open port if by just plugging in a cable shorts the mother board! I have called the service company that Visio recommends but they have not gotten back to me.
