I cant get the sound to work when i put in a dvd. ...

I cant get the sound to work when i put in a dvd. I hear the static but not the movie. It does work if i hook up another dvd player and play the movie that way. Ive tried i think just about everything in the menu. If it comes with speakers why wont it play?
