Theruleof thumbistofully screwinthe Tension
Adjusterandthenbackout byabout2turns.The
optimum spotvaries with actualconditions, but is
mostly within 13 turns from the fully tightened
position.Ideally,itshouldbeatapositionjustdeep
enough to rid any free movements (plays), while
force on the worm assembly is kept at a minimum.

Octantis at southern hemisphere).Slightly loosen
Tripod Center Rod Knob. Use Azimuth Adjustment
Knobstocenterthepolestarintheazimuthdirection,
followedbytighteningtheCenterRodKnob.Slightly
loosen 2 Latitude Locking Tbolts,
use Latitude
AdjustmentKnobtoadjustthela titude.Tightenthe
2lockingTbolts.
