3 Overview
The high-performance Kramer 621T and 621R are an optical transmitter and
receiver pair for DVI signals for computer graphics signals. They support
resolutions of up to 1920x1200 at 60Hz and HDTV resolutions of up to 1080p at
60Hz. The 621T converts a DVI signal into an optical signal and the 621R converts
the optical signal back to DVI.
The 621T and 621R have a transmission range of more than 300ft (more than
100m) of single link high-resolution digital graphic data over fiber optic cables and
EDID/HDCP parameters over DDC (UTP) cabling.
Using DDC (Digital Display Channel), the display can inform the video card about its
properties, such as the maximum resolution and the color depth. The video card can then use
this information to ensure that you are presented with valid options for configuring the display.
In particular, the 621T/621R pair features:
A single-link DVI connection that supports a resolution of up to 1920x1200 at
a 60Hz refresh rate
Maximum data rate of 4.95Gbps (1.65Gbps per graphic channel)
Transmission of one red, one green and one blue channel, and one clock over
the fiber optic cables, with 4 simplex or 2 duplex LC fiber connectors
DDC/HDCP interconnection over CAT 5 with RJ-45 connectors, and also
provides power via the UTP cable
Class 1 Laser Eye Safety in compliance with FDA/CDRH and IEC 60825-1
Compliance with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to part 15
and 2 of FCC and CE
Freedom from special memory size, CPU speed and chipsets, when using a
computer
