MPEG-4
The MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) 4
standard is designed to handle reproduction of
video with a wide dynamic range --- from video
streaming on a slow communication line to that
equivalent to HDTV quality. In MPEG-4, the
picture is broken down into objects, such as the
background, people, and buildings, and the
changes in respective objects are recorded. This is
similar to video recording in the M-JPEG format.
The subjects that can be treated as objects are
not limited to scenes and characters, but extend
to audio data such as speech and music.
Low Bit Rate but High Image Quality
MPEG-4 is capable of providing quality images at a
low bit-rate. It is possible to record for
considerably longer than systems using JPEG
compression.
Network
DSR-2004 offers network connectivity with LAN
and WAN. MPEG-4 is an international standard for
highly efficient digital encoding (compression) of
video and audio signals. This means it is also
highly efficient for transmission over a network.
Easy Backup (Only through USB 2.0)
Supports the use of USB 2.0 Flash Drives. This
makes it easy to backup still images in JPEG
format and video in AVI format.
Search Functions
Three search functions are available — ”Event
Search”, “Time / Date Search” and “Time line
Search” — find recordings instantly.
