5 There are multiple different possibilities. More than likely the lens reader is either scratched or covered in dirt/dust/lint. It happened with mine and blowing into it when the tray was open worked for awhile, it then started requiring a canned air spray to blow it out. Other possibilities are faulty lens which would require replacement lens, better off just replacing entire DVD player. It could be any of the gears inside controlling the lens not moving it into position.
