CleaningthePrintheadmayhelpclearnozzlesthatareclogged.

•Youcanspecifyanumberofpagesintheprinter’sNoz.CheckFreq.menuforautomaticnozzle

checkingandcleaningeverytimeyounishprintingthatquantity.(→P.48)

•YoucanstartHeadCleaningAbyholdingdowntheInformationbuttonforthreesecondsormore.

CleaningthePrinthead

1.PresstheMenubuttontodisplayMAINMENU.

2.Press▲or▼toselectHeadCleaning,andthenpressthe►button.

3.Press▲or▼toselectthetypeofcleaning,andthenpresstheOKbutton.

•HeadCleaningA

UseHeadCleaningAifprintingisfaintorcontainsforeignsubstances.Thismethodofcleaning

consumestheleastamountofink.Ittakesabouttwominutestocomplete.

•HeadCleaningB

UseHeadCleaningBifnoinkcomesoutoftheprinthead,orifHeadCleaningAdoesnotsolvethe

problem.Ittakesaboutthreeminutestocomplete.

Theprintheadiscleaned,andtheprintergoesonline.

4.Printatestpatterntocheckthenozzles,anddeterminewhethercleaninghasclearedthe

nozzles.(→P.689)

•IfprintingdoesnotimproveafterHeadCleaningA,tryHeadCleaningB.Ifthisdoesnotsolve

theproblem,repeatHeadCleaningBatleasttwotimes.Ifthisstilldoesnotimproveprinting,the

Printheadmayhavereachedtheendofitsusefullife.ContactyourCanondealer.

Caution

•DonotremovetheMaintenanceCartridgeorInkTanksduringcleaning.
