You can shoot zoomed images using the combined digital and
optical zooms. The focal lengths (35 mm film equivalent) and
characteristics are as follows.

You can shoot at a maximum zoom
factor of approximately 12 times using
a combination of the optical and digital
zoom features.
Off
37 – 111 mm Shoots without using the digital zoom.

51.8 – 155 mm The digital zoom locks at the selected
factor and the focal length shifts to the
telephoto setting.
Compared with the [Standard] and [Off]
options at a similar angle of view, this
option uses a higher shutter speed to
reduce the potential for camera shake.

2.3x
85.1 – 255 mm
z The digital zoom cannot be used when the LCD monitor is
turned off.
z The digital zoom cannot be used in the or (Postcard
mode) or the (Widescreen) mode.
