GETTING STARTED
1.1 REQUIRED SOFTWARE INSTALLATIONS
The following software applications must be installed on your PC BEFORE you can perform the upgrade
from Windows Mobile 2002 to 2003:
; Samsung USB Drivers (available on the OS Update web site)
1. Download the USB Driver file (Samsung MCCI Driver 4.16.zip) to your PC desktop
2. Double-click the USB Driver file and extract the folder to your PC desktop.
3. Double-click the Samsung MCCI Driver 4.16 folder on your desktop.
4. Run the “Setup.exe” file to install the drivers and follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Once install program completes, restart you PC.
6. After PC reboot, directly connect the Samsung SCH-i600 Desktop/Sync cradle to your PC and to
a power outlet.
7. On the SCH-i600, change the USB setting to External Data Call. Select Start Menu (in the
lower left corner of the screen) > Settings menu > More > Phone Settings > Other > USB >
External Data Call > Done.
8. Dock the SCH-i600 handset in the cradle.
9. The ‘Finding New Hardware’ pop-up window should appear to complete the installation of the
Samsung PDA Drivers.
10. Once wizard is complete, return the SCH-i600 USB setting back to the Active Sync state.
Select Start Menu (in the lower left corner of the screen) > Settings menu > More > Phone
Settings > Other > USB > Active Sync > Done.
; Microsoft ActiveSync synchronization software v3.7 (available on the OS Update web
site or Samsung Software Companion CD)
1. Download ActiveSync to your PC desktop.
2. Double-click the ‘MSASYNC’ icon on your desktop.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.
Warning: At this point, do NOT have the i600 Desktop/Sync cradle connected to the PC.

ActiveSync 3.7.1 will not work with the i600 upgrade. Uninstall any other version of ActiveSync
from the computer and re-install ActiveSync 3.7.
