Troubleshooting Printers
❑ Make sure that the printer driver supports Windows XP.
Ask the manufacturer of your printer for the driver that supports Windows XP.
❑ If the bidirectional communication functions are provided with your printer, disabling the functions on the computer may
enable printing. Proceed as follows:
1 Click Start and then Control Panel.
2 Click the Printers and Other Hardware icon.
3 Click the Printers and Faxes icon.
4 Right-click the printer to select Properties.
5 Click the Ports tab.
6 Click the check box for Enable bidirectional support to deselect it.
7 Click OK.

This change to the settings will disable the bidirectional communication functions of your printer, such as data transfer, status monitoring, and remote
panel.
❑ Check the physical connections between the computer and printer, the AC adapter and the power cord, and the power
cord and an AC outlet, and then restart the computer.
