Rick Huseman
Many top drivers got their start with go-karts or mini bikes, but Rick Huseman’s rst
racing rides were even smaller; he got started with radio-control cars! Even though
Rick wasn’t actually inside the 1/10 scale 2WD and 4WD machines, he learned the
essentials of off-road driving while “behind the wheel” of his R/C cars. When Rick and
brother Danny saw their rst SODA (Short-Course Off-road Drivers Association) race
in 1996, they hatched a plan to put together a race truck of their own, and got their

Ranger together just in time for the last race of the 1996 season. Rick honed his
technique racing local events in Mexico and southern California, posting over 20 wins
in the process. In 2000, Rick Huseman Racing took their rst step in becoming a full-
time pro race team and built a truck for championship off-road competition.
Rick nished ninth overall for the season, then surged in 2001, battling veteran champ
Jeff Kincaid all season long to nish second, just 7 points behind Kincaid. Through
2004, Rick charged his Fabtech
®
truck to second place nishes in the series points
championships, even as the number of teams vying for the top spot grew each year.
2005 marked a new era for Rick Huseman Racing as Fabtech founder and CEO Dave
Winner moved the team into the elite Pro 4WD ranks with impressive results. Rick took
the podium twice and nished seventh overall in his rookie season. With 19 wins, four
Pro 4WD wins, and a total of 43 trips to the top step of the podium in his racing career,
Rick Huseman is a dominant force in Short-Course Off-Road Racing.
