SmartCentral Privacy Policy
Sharp Electronics Corporation (“Sharp”) is committed to protecting your privacy. Please read the
following SmartCentral Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) as it applies to data and information
obtained through SmartCentral. This Privacy Policy applies only to information submitted or
collected through SmartCentral and may differ from other Sharp privacy policies or privacy policies
of third party applications or sites accessed on the SmartCentral platform. This Privacy Policy
should be read in conjunction with the SmartCentral Terms of Use (“Terms of Use”), available at
http://www.sharpusa.com/SmartCentral/termsofuse.aspx, as this Privacy Policy is incorporated
therein by reference. All defined terms in the Terms of Use shall have the same meaning in this
Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect
As part of Your use of SmartCentral and any Sharp services available through SmartCentral,
Sharp may ask that you voluntarily provide some types of personally identifiable information to us,
including, but not limited to, Your name and contact information. Sharp may also collect and store
certain other information through Your use of SmartCentral, including, but not limited to, IP
address, MAC address (a unique identifier of the device), other individual device identifiers,
individual account information and passwords, application access information, user preferences,
usage patterns, cache data, and other actions taken in connection with the use of SmartCentral.
2.
Use of Your Information
Sharp collects and may use the information collected to operate and improve SmartCentral, deliver
the services and/or Connected Services You have requested or may be interested in, and
otherwise enhance Your overall experience with SmartCentral. For instance, Sharp may, without
limitation, use the information to provide customer service and support, update You on new
products or services, personalize SmartCentral, make new content available to You based on
geographic location, interests or preferences, or share information collected with existing or
potential Third Party Content Providers to deliver or improve existing or develop new content
accessible via SmartCentral. Sharp may further share Your information, including personally
identifiable information, with third parties: (1) who perform functions, as our agent or contractor,
including, but not limited to, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, hosting websites and
providing customer support; (2) to comply with the law, applicable regulations, court orders or
subpoenas, to enforce the Terms and Conditions or other agreements, or to protect our rights,
property or safety or the rights, property or safety of our users or others; (3) if the disclosure is
done as part of a purchase, transfer or sale of services or assets (e.g., in the event that
substantially all of our assets are acquired by another party, customer information may be one of
the transferred assets); or (4) as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy. Sharp’s agents or
contractors who have access to Your personally identifiable information in connection with the
above activities are required to keep the information confidential and not to use it for any purpose
other than to carry out the services they are performing for Sharp.
3.
How We Collect Information
Sharp may utilize standard internet tools such as cookies, tags, caches, and user events to
temporarily store or retrieve non-personally identifiable information in connection with your use of
SmartCentral. A Cookie is a text-only string of characters which may be temporarily stored in Your
SmartCentral television or on Sharp’s servers. A Pixel Tag is a graphic on a web page or in an e-
mail message designed to track pages viewed and messages opened. Third Party Content
Providers may also use Cookies, Pixel Tags, user events, or other tools on their sites and
applications available through SmartCentral. Please be aware that any information gathered by
sites or applications available through the SmartCentral platform are collected by the Third Party
Content Provider and not by Sharp. Sharp has no access to or control over the collection, storage,
or use of information gathered by Third Party Content Provider(s). For more information about third
party sites, please see Section 4 below.

Third Party Sites
This Privacy Policy applies only to information gathered directly by and through the SmartCentral
interface and does not pertain to any other site or application, whether owned or operated by
Sharp or a Third Party Content Provider, that is accessible or made available through
SmartCentral. These other sites and applications may collect personal information about You. The
information practices of those sites and applications are not covered by this Privacy Policy and
such sites and applications may have their own privacy statements. You will have the opportunity
to and should review the privacy policies of those sites and applications before providing any
personal information

Security
Sharp takes precautions, including administrative, technical and physical measures, to safeguard
and help protect personally identifiable information collected from loss, theft and misuse, as well as
unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. Information collected will be stored on
a secure data base. Although we take appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorized
disclosures of information, Sharp cannot assure that personally identifiable information collected
will never be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy.
6.
Personal Information of Children
At Sharp, we are committed to protecting the personal information of children. As such,
SmartCentral is not meant for use by individuals under the age of 18 and Sharp will not knowingly
collect personal information from individuals under such age. If we learn that a child under the age
of eighteen has provided any personal information, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to
delete such information promptly. Sharp encourages parents and legal guardians to participate in
all online activities of their children and instruct them to not provide any personally identifiable
information to Sharp via SmartCentral.
