Enjoying Karaoke
Selecting the Vocal (Vocal Select)
When playing a DVD
You can turn the guide vocal on and off and select the
guide vocal or melody to be sung recorded in the karaoke
track of Dolby Digital format in karaoke mode.
Turn on the guide vocal by pressing VOCAL SELECT
while playing a disc.
Each time you press VOCAL SELECT, the guide vocal
channel changes as follows:

VOCAL SELECT
When playing a DVD with the Dolby Digital Karaoke
format in karaoke mode, you can select the guide vocal
and melody to be sung recorded in the karaoke track.
When playing a VIDEO CD/CD in karaoke mode, you
can listen to the guide vocal.
Notes
• This function works only with the Dolby Digital Karaoke
format.
• Depending on the DVD, you may not be able to do the above
operations.
• If only one guide vocal is recorded in the disc, you can select
only “1.”
When playing a VIDEO CD or CD
When VIDEO CDs and CDs are played in karaoke mode,
the audio output automatically switches so that only the
left channel (accompaniment track) is played and output
from both front speakers (L, R).
By pressing VOCAL SELECT while the accompaniment is
played, you can listen to the vocal.
To select the vocal track, press VOCAL SELECT. Each time
you press VOCAL SELECT, the output channel changes as
follows:

zYou can turn the guide vocal on and off and select the guide
vocal using “VOCAL SELECT” in the Karaoke Control Menu
display
Select “VOCAL SELECT” in the Karaoke Control Menu, select
the guide vocal using >/., and then press ENTER.
To use the Karaoke Control Menu, see “Displaying the Karaoke
Control Menu” on page 39.
Note
If the disc is recorded with accompaniment on the right channel,
you cannot hear accompaniment in karaoke mode. In this case,
select “OFF” in “VOCAL SELECT” and select accompaniment
channel using AUDIO on the remote. Each time you press
AUDIO, the sound changes as follows:
