Before connecting
Make sure that all the connections on pages 8
and 9 are complete (the connection to a TV is
required).
Turning on the DVD Player may cause a
momentary power surge, which might interfere
with other electrical equipment such as
computers. To prevent the interference, use a
wall outlet on a different circuit.
2 Press the POWER switch to
switch on the main power.
The DVD Player enters standby mode.
The STANDBY indicator lights up.
Notes
The buttons on the remote controller don’t operate if the
POWER switch is set to OFF.
To switch off the main power, press the POWER switch again.
3 Press STANDBY/ON on the DVD Player
or POWER on the remote controller.
The DVD Player turns on. The STANDBY indicator goes off.
The first time you turn on the DVD Player, the First Setup screen
appears.
With the First Setup screen, select the
On-Screen Language and TV Shape
according to the aspect ratio of the TV screen (see pages 30 and 31)
following the steps below.
1 Press
/ to select “On-Screen Language,” then press ENTER (the
center of the cursor).
2 Select a language with / , then press ENTER.
3 Press
to select “TV Shape,” then press ENTER.
4 Press
/ to select the aspect ratio of the TV screen, then press
ENTER.
5 Finally press SETUP.
All your selections are set and the First Setup screen disappears.
Notes
To turn off the DVD Player, press STANDBY/ON on the DVD Player, or POWER on
the remote controller. The DVD Player enters standby mode. Be sure to set the
volume to minimum before turning off the DVD Player for the next use to avoid
sudden loud sound reproduction.
You can change the above settings later with “Customizing the Function Settings” on
page 28.
