DefectPolicy
Philipsstrivestodeliverthehighestquality
products.Weusesomeoftheindustry'smost
advancedmanufacturingprocessesandpractice
stringentqualitycontrol.However,pixelor
subpixeldefectsontheTFTMonitorpanels
usedinflatpanelmonitorsaresometimes
unavoidable.Nomanufacturercanguarantee
thatallpanelswillbefreefrompixeldefects,
butPhilipsguaranteesthatanymonitorwith
anunacceptablenumberofdefectswillbe
repairedorreplacedunderwarranty.Thisnotice
explainsthedifferenttypesofpixeldefectsand
definesacceptabledefectlevelsforeachtype.
Inordertoqualifyforrepairorreplacement
underwarranty,thenumberofpixeldefects
onaTFTMonitorpanelmustexceedthese
acceptablelevels.Forexample,nomorethan
0.0004%ofthesubpixelsona23"XGA
monitormaybedefective.Furthermore,Philips
setsevenhigherqualitystandardsforcertain
typesorcombinationsofpixeldefectsthatare
morenoticeablethanothers.Thispolicyisvalid
worldwide.
PixelsandSubpixels
Apixel,orpictureelement,iscomposedof
threesubpixelsintheprimarycolorsofred,
greenandblue.Manypixelstogetherforman
image.Whenallsubpixelsofapixelarelit,the
threecoloredsubpixelstogetherappearasa
singlewhitepixel.Whenallaredark,thethree
coloredsubpixelstogetherappearasasingle
blackpixel.Othercombinationsoflitanddark
subpixelsappearassinglepixelsofothercolors.

BrightDotDefects
Brightdotdefectsappearaspixelsorsubpixels

asub-pixelthatstandsoutonthescreenwhen
themonitordisplaysadarkpattern.Thereare
thetypesofbrightdotdefects:
Onelitred,greenorbluesubpixel
