Cleaning
Dust exposed surfaces as required, using a soft cloth or
the dusting attachment of ",'our \'acuum cleaner.
Occasionally use the vacuum cleaner to rento\€ du,.t
from the ventilation holes on the top. back, sides, and
bottont of the cabinet.
Some of the plastic surfaces are easil\ scratched, and
they can be marred by alcohol and \,arious solvents.
A\oid excessi\e use of oil-based furniture polishes since
the materials u_,ed in tire cabinet are non-porous and the
residue will accumulate more dust.
Sometimes problems can be easily solved by checking a
few basic things Cheek below before you call for help or
take your unit to an RCA Authorized VCR Servicenter.
It could save you time and money. If service should be
necessary. RC'A Authorized VCR Servicenters are
trained and equipped to furnish it.
No Po',a,er Check to see if the VCR is plugged into an operating outlet.
Does Not Respond In Remote Weak batter> in remote control.
Control Remote control not aimed at the VCR or there is an obstruction between
them.
P,cmr/No Picture for Normal TV _ indicator is on. Press TF _/CR button on remote to turn it off.
\"teeing TV monitor/receiver set to "Video Input." Switch to an active channel.
Carefull 3 check antenna connections.
Sno',',.3/No Picture During Playback _t TRACK13/G buttons.
VG[_Q_indicator not on. Press TI" F'CR button on remote to turn on.
Make sure the TV channel selector matches the channel you have selected on
the back of the VCR (3 or 4).
Make sure the TV is fine tuned.
Check the video cable connections between the VCR and a TV monitor/
receiver.
Make sure the TV monitor/recei'-'er is set for "Video In."
Try' another tape.
Very dirty' tape has left deposits on VCR heads. See page 26 for head
cleaning.
Some snow and streaks are normal during Search and Stop-Action play.
Streaks in Picture During Normal Press the TP,ACKING or buttons to move streaks up or down and out of
Pla',back picture.
Tape stretched (poor quality' or worn out).
Will Not Record or Pla.', No cassette m VCR.
Eject and reinsert cassette.
Broken tape - tU another cassette.
Will Not Record VCR is in the pause mode.
Record-protect tab removed from cassette.
Timer Recording Not Made Program entered incorrectly, (wrong channel or times).

Clock was not se: accurately' (including AM/PM).
Program exceeded cassette length or tape ',,,as not rewound beforehand.
VCR was not turned off at tke time recording '.,.'as to start.
Nu fade in VCR or cassette's record-protect tab broken off.
Tape Stops Before Complete Rewind Press DISPL4 Y on remote to turn off tape counter or press REWIND again.
Tape rewinds only to "0000" when the counter is on.
Rev,ind does not operate Tape already rev.'ound. Check counter reading.
Clock Shows Incorrect Time or Date Power interruptmn. (Clock on the front panel will shov, " : ".)
Clock ',.,.as not set accurately' (especially' AM and PM).
Clock display' shows recording time remaining during XPR recording.
