CleaningthePrintheadmayhelpclearnozzlesthatareclogged.

Note

•Youcanperformautomaticnozzlecheckingandcleaningeverytimeyounishprintingthatquantityby

specifyinganumberofpagesintheprinter’sNozzleCheckmenu.(→P.47)

•YoucanstartHeadCleaningAbyholdingdowntheInformationbuttonforthreesecondsormore.

•IfPOPBoard(paperthickness1.5mm[0.06in])isloadedinFrontPaperFeedSlot,printheadcleaning

willnotworkcorrectly.Removethepaperbeforecleaning.

1.PresstheMenubuttontodisplayMAINMENU.

2.Press◄or►toselectHeadCleaning,andthenpress▼.

3.Press◄or►toselectthetypeofcleaning,andthenpresstheOKbutton.

•HeadCleaningA

UseHeadCleaningAifprintingisfaintorcontainsforeignsubstances.Thismethodofcleaning

consumestheleastamountofink.Ittakesaboutfourminutestocomplete.

•HeadCleaningB

UseHeadCleaningAifnoinkcomesoutoftheprinthead,orifHeadCleaningBdoesnotsolvethe

problem.Ittakesaboutsixminutestocomplete.

Thesettingisupdated,andanequalssign“=”isdisplayedatleft.

Theprintheadcleaningisnished,andtheprintergoesonline.

4.Printatestpatterntocheckthenozzles,anddeterminewhethercleaninghasclearedthe

nozzles.(→P.651)

•IfprintingdoesnotimproveafterHeadCleaningA,tryHeadCleaningB.Ifthisdoesnotsolve

theproblem,repeatHeadCleaningBtwoorthreetimes.Ifthisstilldoesnotimproveprinting,the

Printheadmayhavereachedtheendofitsusefullife.ContactyourCanondealer.
