Turning off Haier • Roku TV speakers
When you use your Haier • Roku TV with a sound bar or an external amplier and speakers, you’ll probably want to
turn o the internal TV speakers.
To turn o the TV’s built-in speakers, in the Home screen menu, navigate to Sengs > Audio > TV speakers and
change the seng.
Tip
: The TV’s internal speakers can be enabled and disabled automacally as needed by system audio
control, as described in “Enabling system audio control” on page 59 . The internal speakers are also
turned o when you use the headphone jack
Changing the audio mode
The TV has two audio modes, accessed by navigang in the Home screen menu to Sengs >Audio > Digital audio out:
• Stereo – Use this seng for internal speakers, headphones, and external stereo ampliers connected
through HDMI® ARC, SPDIF opcal, or headphone jack.
• Auto – Use this seng to automacally detect the best audio seng based on the audio stream in the
content you are watching. If you have connected the TV to an external Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus
compable amplier, receiver, or sound bar through HDMI® ARC or SPDIF opcal, the TV automacally
selects the appropriate surround sound capabilies of the device based on the characteriscs of the current
program.
Setting up a digital audio connection
You can connect the TV to an external amplier, receiver, or sound bar by using either of these two connecons:
• HDMI ARC – The HDMI® Audio Return Channel enables the TV to output digital audio on one of its HDMI®
connectors. The connected amplier can also funcon simultaneously as an input source to the TV, if
needed. To use the ARC capability, you must connect an HDMI® cable from your amplier’ HDMI® ARC
connector to the HDMI ARC connector on the TV. You also must:
o Be sure your HDMI® cable is cered by HDMI®.
o Select the appropriate seng under Sengs > Audio > Audio mode, as explained in “Changing
the audio mode” on page 58 .
o Enable HDMI ARC under Sengs > System > CEC, as explained in “Enabling HDMI® ARC” on page
59 .
• SPDIF opcal – The TV has an SPDIF opcal connector that outputs a digital audio signal. To use the opcal
output, connect a TOSLINK opcal cable from the amplier to the Opcal or SPDIF connector on the TV. You
also must:
o Select the appropriate seng under Sengs > Audio > Audio mode, as explained in “Changing
the audio mode” on page 58 .
Note
: Dolby Digital Plus format is only output through the HDMI® ARC connecon.
Aer making the required HDMI® ARC or SPDIF opcal connecon, go to Sengs > Audio > S/PDIF and ARC opon and
select the audio format to use.
