Masking the vocal recorded on a disc
[VOCAL MASK]
Using the Voice cancel function, you can mask a vocal
recorded on normal non-Karaoke discs.
When playing back a Karaoke disc, such as a disc with
multiplex audio and multi-sound Karaoke, eliminate the
vocal by selecting “KARAOKE SOUND,” instead of
“VOCAL MASK” (See page 37).

Press DISPLAY-TIME.
The Karaoke menu appears on the TV screen.
The Karaoke menu also appears by pressing
STROBE-KARAOKE MENU while holding down
SHIFT.
If [KARAOKE SOUND] is set to L or R, the voice
cancel function does not work correctly. Change
the setting to L+R (See page 37).

Use CURSOR 2/3 to move to [VOCAL].
To cancel display of the Karaoke menu
Press DISPLAY-TIME.
For Video CD and SVCD, the selection of [KARAOKE
SOUND] matches the audio selection using the AUDIO
button.
With a DVD disc which does not contain “Multi-sound
Karaoke,” [KARAOKE SOUND] cannot be changed.

Use CURSOR 5/ to select [MASK].
Pressing CURSOR 5 cycles the vocal mode as
shown below.
Pressing CURSOR cycles the mode in reverse
order.

Example 2: A Video CD, SVCD or Audio CD with
Karaoke
Pressing CURSOR 5 button cycles the sound as
follows. Pressing CURSOR cycles the sound
in reverse order.

To cancel display of the Karaoke menu
Press DISPLAY-TIME.
If [KARAOKE SOUND] is set to L or R, the vocal mask
function does not work correctly.
With some materials, such as those recorded in monaural
and sung by multiple voices, the voice may not be
satisfactorily masked.
