Program the Remote
About Programming the
Remote
The universal remotes TV and SATCABLE buttons can be
programmed to control other brands of remote controlled TVs,
digital satellite receivers, and cable boxes. Your remote is already
programmed to operate most ProScan, RCA, and GE televisions as
well as digital satellite receivers.
The AUX button can be programmed to control a ProScan or RCA
auxiliary component.
Testing the Remote
To determine whether the universal remote needs to be
programmed, turn the component on (such as a TV), point the
remote at the TV and press the TV button. Then press ONOFF,
CH +, or CH - to see if the TV responds to the remote commands.
If the TV does not respond, then the remote control needs to be
programmed.
Programming the Remote to
Control a TV, Satellite Receiver,
or Cable Box
The remote features Code Search, a technology that largely
automates the programming process. Follow these steps to
program the remote to control a TV, digital satellite receiver, or
cable box.
1. Turn on the component you want to control (TV, digital
satellite receiver, or cable box).
2. Press and hold the button you want to program (TV or
SATCABLE). While holding the component button,
press and hold ONOFF until the LED on the remote
flashes, then release both buttons.
3. Press and release PLAY, then wait five seconds.
The remote searches through a set of codes. If, after
five seconds, the component does not turn off, press
PLAY again to tell the remote to search the next set of
codes.
You can press FORWARD to individually search through
the last ten codes that were transmitted when you
pressed PLAY.
Youll use these buttons when you
program the remote to control a TV,
digital satellite receiver, or cable box.
