pDVD MENU LANGUAGE
Switches the languages for the DVD menu which is recorded
in multiple languages.

FRENCH
ITALIAN
GERMAN
PORTUGUESE
DUTCH
OTHERS/
When you select “OTHERS,” select and enter the
language code from the list using the number buttons
(page 52).
Note
When you select the language that is not recorded on the
DVD, any one of the recorded languages is automatically
selected.
pOSD (On-Screen Display) LANGUAGE
Switch the language for the on-screen display.
ENGLISH
CHINESE
pDOWNMIX
Switches the mixing down methods when you play a DVD on
which the sound in Dolby Digital (AC-3) format is recorded.
SURROUND: when the player is connected to an audio
component that conforms to Dolby surround, Dolby Pro
Logic surround, etc.
NORMAL : when the player is connected to a normal audio
component
z The setting affects the analog output from the LINE
OUT (AUDIO 1, 2) connectors and digital output
from the DIGITAL OUT OPTICAL and COAXIAL
connectors when “DVD DIGITAL OUT” is set to
“PCM.”
pDVD DIGITAL OUT
Switches the outputting methods of audio signals from the
DIGITAL OUT OPTICAL and COAXIAL connectors on the
rear panel of the player.
PCM: when the player is connected to an audio component
without a built-in Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoder
AC-3 Digital: when the player is connected to audio
component with a built-in Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoder
Note
Select the setting correctly. Otherwise, no sound will
come out from the speakers or strange sound will come
out from the speakers, affecting your ears or causing the
speakers to be damaged.
pVIDEO CD COLOR SYSTEM
Selects the color system when you play a VIDEO CD.
AUTO: automatically selects the appropriate color system
for the VIDEO CD.
PAL: selects the PAL color system.
NTSC: selects the NTSC color system.
For details on selecting the color system, see page 9.
pVIDEO CD DIGITAL OUT
Turns on and off the digital audio output when you play a
VIDEO CD.
ON: outputs the digital audio signals.
OFF: does not output the digital audio signals.
