Connections (Continued)
Basic TV Connections
Make one of the following connections, depending on
the capabilities of your existing equipment.
RF coaxial connection
Connect the RF.OUT jack on the DVD+VCR to the
antenna in jack on the TV using the 75-ohm Coaxial
Cable supplied (R).
Note:
If you use this connection, tune the TV to the
DVD+VCR’s RF output channel (CH 3 or 4).
How to set the DVD+VCR’s RF output channel
1.When the DVD+VCR is turned off,
press and hold
REW m or FWD M on the front panel for about
five seconds.
It will turn itself on and “RF03” or “RF04” appears in the dis-
play window.
2.
Press REW m or FWD M on the front panel or
CH/TRK (+/-) on the remote control to change the RF
output channel (CH 03 or CH 04).
3.
Turn off and on the DVD+VCR.
4.
Press the TV CH to 3 or 4 depending on the RF
output channel you had selected.
Now you can watch the DVD+VCR playback on CH3
or CH4 of your TV.
Audio/Video connection

Connect the DVD/VCR VIDEO OUT jack on the
DVD+VCR to the video in jack on the TV using the
video cable supplied (V).

Connect the Left and Right DVD/VCR AUDIO OUT
jacks on the DVD+VCR to the audio left/right in
jacks on the TV (A1) using the supplied audio
cables.
Notes:
If you use this connection, set the TV’s source selector to
VIDEO.
For DVD/VCR VIDEO OUT jack connection, resolution must
be set to 480i or 480p by pressing RESOLUTION on the
front panel, however DVD/VCR VIDEO OUT is always at
480i standard resolution.
HDMI mode must be set to OFF for DVD/VCR VIDEO OUT
jack connection.
Optional, Preferred TV Connections
Note:
You can ONLY watch and listen to DVD playback
through the connections shown below.
S-Video connection

Connect the S-VIDEO OUT jack on the DVD+VCR
to the S-Video in jack on the TV using the optional
S-Video cable (S) (not supplied).

Connect the Left and Right AUDIO OUT jacks of
the DVD+VCR to the audio left/right in jacks on the
TV using the supplied audio cables (A2).
Notes:
For S-Video connection, resolution must be set to 480i or
480p by pressing RESOLUTION on the front panel, however
S-VIDEO OUT is always at 480i standard resolution.
HDMI mode must be set to OFF for S-Video connection.
Component Video (Color Stream
®
) / Progressive
Scan (ColorStream
®
pro) connection
If your television is a high-definition or “digital ready”
television, you may take advantage of the
DVD+VCR’s progressive scan output for the highest
video resolution possible.
If your TV does not accept the Progressive Scan for-
mat, the picture will appear scrambled if you try
Progressive Scan on the DVD+VCR.

Connect the COMPONENT / PROGRESSIVE
SCAN VIDEO OUT jacks on the DVD+VCR to the
corresponding in jacks on the TV using the optional
Y Pb Pr cables (C) (not supplied).

Connect the Left and Right AUDIO OUT jacks of
the DVD+VCR to the audio left/right in jacks on the
TV (A2) using the supplied audio cables.
Notes :
You can change the resolution (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i) for
the component/progressive scan video output by pressing
RESOLUTION on the front panel.
For 720p and 1080i resolution, only non-copy protected
discs can be played back. If the disc is copy protected, it will
be auto down-scaling to 480p resolution.
HDMI mode must be set to OFF for Component video con-
nections.
