VX-8R OPERATING MANUAL 119
SENSOR MODE
The VX-8R always displays the “Battery Voltage” and “Current Time” while the VX-8R
is operating in the “Mono” band mode with the Large characters, the VX-8R can display
various information provided by internal sensors. Available se-
lections are “Battery Voltage”, “Temperature”, “Audio Wave-
form”, “Current Barometric Pressure”, “Current Altitude”, and
“off”.
The Barometric Pressure sensor requires calibration of the “offset” parameters, so that
differences in pressure can be used to calculate altitude. This procedure requires that you
have a calibrated barometer, and that you know your current altitude. If you are at sea
level, of course, the latter parameter requires no research.
The Sensor mode is only displayed while the VX-8R is operating in the Mono
band mode with the Large characters. The internal sensor takes measure-
ments continuously unless the Sensor mode is disabled.
To display the sensor information:
1. Press and hold the key for one second to enter the Set Mode.
2. Rotate the DIAL knob to select Set Mode Item
