22. DAMAGE REQUIRINGSERVICE
Unplug this unitfrom the wall outlet and referservicing to qualified service personnelunder
the following conditions:
a. When thepower-supply cord or plug is damaged.
b. If liquidhas been spilled, or objects havefallen into the unit.
c. If theunit has been exposed to rainor water.
d. If theunit does not operate normally byfollowing the operating instructions.Adjust
only those controlsthat are covered by the operatinginstructions, as an improper
adjustment of othercontrols may result in damage andwill often require extensive
work by aqualified technician to restore the unitto its normal operation.
e. If theunit has been dropped or thecabinet has been damaged.
f. Whenthe unit exhibits a distinct changein performance, this indicates a need for
service.
When replacement partsare required, be sure the servicetechnician uses replacement parts
specified by themanufacturer or those that have thesame characteristics as the originalpart.
Unauthorized substitutions mayresult in fire, electric shock orother hazards.
Upon completion ofany service or repairs to thisunit, ask the service technicianto perform
safety checks todetermine that the unit is inproper operating condition.
The product shouldbe situated away from heat sourcessuch as radiators, heat registers,
stoves, or otherproducts (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
Keep your fingerswell clear of the disc slotas it is closing. Itmay cause serious personal
injury.
When you connectthe product to other equipment, turnoff the power andunplug all of the
equipment from thewall outlet. Failure to do somay cause an electric shockand serious
personal injury.Read the owner's manual of theother equipment carefully and followthe
instructions when makingany connections.
Reduce the volumeto the minimum level before youturn on the product. Otherwise,sudden
high volume soundmay cause hearing or speaker damage.
Do not allowthe product output distorted sound fora longtime. It may causespeaker
overheating and fire.
Do not lookinto the opening of the discslot or ventilation opening ofthe product to see the
source of thelaser beam. It may cause sightdamage.
Do not usea cracked, deformed, or repaired disc.These discs are easilybroken and may
cause serious personalinjury and product malfunction.
This reminder isprovided to call the CableTV system installer's attention toArticle 820-40 of
the NEC thatprovides guidelines for proper grounding and,in particular, specifies that the
cable ground shallbe connected to the grounding systemof the building, as closeto the point
of cable entryas practical.
