TROUBLESHOOTING
If, after following the steps in the chart below, the problem still exists, please consult your nearest JVC dealer.
Power
Video and D.S.C. Playback
The player is a microcomputer-controlled device. External noise and interference (from a TV, a radio, etc.)
might prevent it from functioning properly. In such cases, first disconnect its power supply unit (battery pack,
AC Power Adapter/Charger, etc.) and wait a few minutes; and then re-connect it and proceed as usual from
the beginning.
SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSES CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. No power is supplied. 1. The power is not connected
properly.
The battery is dead.
1. Connect the AC Power
Adapter/Charger securely.

Replace the dead battery
with a fully charged one.

SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSES CORRECTIVE ACTION
2. Play, Rewind and Fast-Forward
functions do not work.
2. The Playback Mode Switch is
set to MEMORY.
2. Set the Playback Mode
Switch to VIDEO.
3. The tape is moving, but there is
no picture.
3. Your TV has AV input
terminals, but is not set to its
VIDEO mode.
The cassette holder cover is
open.
3. Set the TV to the mode or
channel appropriate for

Close the cassette holder
cover. ( pg. 14)
4. Blocks of noise appear during
playback, or there is no
playback picture and the
screen becomes blue.

The tape is recorded in LP
mode.
4. Clean the video heads with
an optional cleaning
cassette.
This is not a malfunction.
5. A memory card cannot be
played back.
5. The Playback Mode Switch is
set to VIDEO.
5. Set the Playback Mode
Switch to MEMORY.
6. The image on the 4:3 TV is
elongated vertically (squeeze).
6. This occurs during recording
in HD or SD mode when a
tape (its erase protection tab
is set to REC) is loaded.
The component video cable
and S-video or audio/video
cable are connected
simultaneously.

Disconnect either of two
cables.
7. The screen of the LCD monitor
is blackened or blocks of noise
appear on its right side but 4/
9 is not pressed.
7. The S-Video or audio/video
cable is connected and S/AV
INPUT (pg. 27) is set to
ON.

After dubbing, set S/AV
INPUT back to OFF.
8. When the screen is under
direct sunlight, the screen
becomes red or black for an
instant.
