V-Chip Lock
V-Chip Parent Lock Menu: V-Chip Lock
If you forget your four-digit passcode,
see Appendix A, page 55.
V-Chip Lock
(Figure 1)
The V-Chip Lock allows you to Block or
Allow programs based upon rating signals
sent by the broadcasting station. The TV
comes from the factory with the V-Chip lock
in the Off setting. You can turn the lock
On within the V-Chip Menu. The factory
preset is TV-PG, allowing only programs
rated TV-PG or lower. You can change
the blocking level to various TV or movie rat-
ings, lettered categories, and by time. After
changing channels or inputs, there may be
up to a 5 second delay before the V-Chip
lock takes effect. The V-CHIP button on the
remote control enables you to conveniently
turn the lock on or off.
Entry to the V-Chip Lock
(Figures 2)
The rst time you select V-Chip Lock from
the MAIN menu, press the V-CHIP button
on the remote control, or after you have
canceled your passcode you will see the
screen shown in gure 2. Use the number
buttons on the remote control to input a four-
digit passcode, then press ENTER. You
can delete a character and move back one
space by pressing CANCEL. You can exit
without inputting a passcode by pressing
MENU or HOME. The next time you select
V-Chip Lock from the MAIN menu, or press
the V-CHIP button on the remote control,
you will see a menu screen similar to the
one in gure 3.
