EDTV: Enhanced-definition describes a digital
TV that is usually capable of displaying
video in 480p.
episode limit: The maximum number of ep-
isodes for the selected program that the
media center will record.

favorites: The category in the Moxi Menu
that contains a list of the fifteen channels
most frequently watched.
Flip bar: A banner at the bottom of the
screen that allows browsing of other
channels and upcoming shows while the
current show remains full screen.

HDID: Hardware Device ID is a unique identi-
fier that each device can access internally.
This identifer allows Digeo servers to iden-
tify individual devices.
HDTV: High Definition TV provides much bet-
ter resolution than TVs based on the NTSC
standard of 480i. HDTVs typically show
video at video resolutions of 720p and
1080i, often in addition to other resolu-
tions.

IEEE 1394: A high-bandwidth digital connec-
tion sometimes called FireWire. The media
center provides an MPEG-2 audio and vid-
eo stream, from live TV, for recording or
display on a digital device.
infrared emitter: A device to send control
signals to home theater components or
any other device capable of receiving and
decoding them.
IP Address: An Internet Protocol address is a
numerical address that uniquely identifies
a specific location or computer on the In-
ternet.
IR blaster: An IR blaster sends remote con-
trol signals to many components simulta-
neously, in a programmed sequence, or to
a remote location such as inside a cabinet.

Jukebox: A feature offering consumers their
own customizable collection of music
(MP3).

live TV: You are watching live TV if tuned to
a channel and watching the current
broadcast.
M
MAC Address: The Media Access Control
address is a unique number assigned to a
device, such as a cable modem or LAN
controller.
media center: The product name for Di-
geo’s all-in-one solution running the Moxi
Service. A television set-top box that deliv-
ers digital entertainment.
movie rating: The MPAA rating system al-
lows viewers to make decisions about
which movies may be appropriate for chil-
dren. Moxi allows setting parental con-
trols based on movie ratings.
