Troubleshooting
Problem Possible Solution
Sound
No sound. • Check whether the audio cable is well connected.
• Check if the audio cable is damaged.
• Check whether the input source setting on the amplifier is correct.
• There is no sound when playback is paused or is under scanning mode or is set
for slow motion.
Press PLAY to resume regular playback.
• If the audio signal does not come through the DIGITAL OUT jacks, please
check whether related settings (on the System Setup menu) for the digital
audio output are correct.
The sound from
the recorder is not
presented properly or
is distorted.
• Check whether the audio cable is well connected.
• Check if the audio cable is damaged.
• Make sure the amplifier/receiver or TV is set to the correct input and the
volume is switched on.
• If the sound is distorted, try cleaning the cable plugs.
Playback
Cannot play back
recordings using this
recorder or other
players
• Check if the disc is required to be finalized.
• Discs recorded with copy-once material cannot be played on non-CPRM
compatible players.
The recorder starts
playing the disc
automatically.
• DVD-Video disc features an auto playback function.
No playback on DVD
recorder.
• Check whether there is any recording on the disc.
• Check whether the disc inserted contains playable files.
• Check whether an unplayable disc is inserted.
• Check whether the way you insert the disc is correct. Insert the disc with the
label side up. If there is no label on the disc, please check with the disc retailer.
• Check whether the disc’s region code is the same as that of the recorder.
• Check whether the parental control function is switched on. If so, you have to
unlock it first. (Default code for the function: 0000)
• Check whether the cables between TV and DVD recorder are well connected.
TV channels
TV channels cannot
be changed.
• Switch the input signal source of the recorder to ‘TV’.
• Check whether the channel scanning process for your TV is completed.
Others
The disc tray does not
open/close.
• Contact your local dealer or local authorized service point.
The recorder fails
to respond to any
commands.
• Switch the recorder off and switch it on again. If the recorder still does not
respond to any commands, unplug the power cord, reconnect it and switch the
recorder on again. Contact your local dealer or authorized service point, if the
problem remains.
