ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Audio is not output or is distorted.
The Setup screen Audio 1 menu [96 kHz PCM Out]
setting is set to “96 kHz”. Digital output is prohibited
on some discs.
\ Change the setting from 96 kHz to 48 kHz
(page 28).
The disc is dirty.
\ Refer to “Disc Care” (page 53).
The connection plugs are not inserted fully into the
terminals or are not connected.
\ Check that all connection plugs are firmly inserted.
The connection plug or terminal is dirty.
\ Check that the plugs and terminals are wiped
clean of dirt, etc.
Audio cable connection is wrong.
\ Check to make sure that the audio cables are
connected correctly (page 17).
Connection is made to the stereo amplifier‘s PHONO
input terminal.
\ Change connection to any input terminal except
PHONO.
The pause mode is engaged.
\ Press PLAY 3 or PAUSE 8 to exit the pause
mode.
Stereo amplifier operation is incorrect.
\ Check input (CD, AUX, etc.) selector to determine
if it is selected for DVD playback.
The DVD is recorded in DTS audio.
\ DTS audio is only output from the digital output
jacks. Connect the digital output on the player to
the digital input on a receiver or amplifier with a
built in DTS decoder to hear DTS audio.
Noticeable difference in DVD and CD volume.
DVDs and CDs use different recording methods.
\ This is not a malfunction.
The audio recorded on the disc is not output
properly.
\ Adjust the Audio Out settings according to the
connection used.
\ If the audio is switched to “2” when playing a
Super VCD that contains only one stereo
soundtrack, there may be no sound at all. To
restore the sound, return the AUDIO switch back
to its original position (page 38).
Digital output is not possible for audio.
\ There is no digital output during Karaoke mode.
Set to Normal mode.
The menu screen is not displayed during Video CD
playback.
\ Turn on the Playback Control function.
Caution
Static electricity or other external influence may
cause malfunctioning of this unit. In this case,
unplugging the power cord and then re-plugging it in
will usually reset the unit for proper operation. If this
does not correct the problem, please consult your
nearest PIONEER service center.
For Karaoke mode only
Key control and Once more are not possible with a
mic featuring controls.
\ Connect the microphone to the MIC jack.
The singer’s voice is not heard or always heard.
\ Confirm that the KARAOKE SETUP (page 34) and
the ONE-TOUCH KARAOKE (page 33) operations
have been performed correctly.
There’s howling.
\ Do not hold the microphone near the speakers
(page 31).
Karaoke operations are not possible or there is no
sound from the mic.
\ The selected mode is Normal. Press the
KARAOKE MODE button to select the Karaoke
mode.
DVD, Super VCD, Video CD, CD volume is low.
\ In Karaoke mode, the volume is low by design.
This is not a problem with the system (page 35).
