Operational Behavior, Windows 2000/XP ShutDown
Configured as shown in the previous screen shots, and after a call initiates a power-OFF or a REBOOT, the Remote
Power On/Off and the Windows 2000/XP UPS Service will work together in the following sequence:

0 Power failure signaled by Remote Power On/Off
5 sec. First warning message that a power failure has occurred
35 sec. Second warning message that a power failure has occurred.
65 sec. Third warning message that a power failure has occurred.
95 sec. Last warning message that a power failure has occurred.
120 sec. Final shut down message. Operating system shut down begins.
121 to 209 sec. Shut down progresses and completes.
210 sec. Remote Power On/Off turns power off.

240 sec. Remote Power On/Off turns power on.
Note: These are approximate times. The Windows NT/2000/XP warning messages may take longer before being
displayed. Also, an individual Remote Power On/Off may have a variance of up to +/-10% of the programmed
ShutDown delay of 3 minutes 30 seconds.
Loopback ShutDown Test
A simple RJ-11 modular loopback test plug, illustrated at left, is included with the Power On/Off +Aux
S
HUTDOWN/REBOOT for Windows NT/2000/XP. This loopback test plug can be used to test the
shutdown function directly at the serial port without the ShutDown signal cable from Power
On/Off attached.
To test using the loopback plug, start with the Windows NT/2000/XP system turned off. Remove the red end of the Y-
cable from the ShutDown adapter. Next, power on the Windows NT/2000/XP system using the Master ON/OFF switch
on the Power On/Off +Aux and allow the PC to boot normally and run the UPS Service.
