Settings (Audio Setup Page)
Digital Audio Setup
SPDIF OFF:
Select this when you don’t use the DIGITAL OUT or
the HDMI terminal.
No signal is output from these terminals.
ALL:
Select this when the unit is connected to an audio
component equipped with a built-in Dolby Digital
or DTS decoder via the DIGITAL OUT or the HDMI
terminal.
PCM only (Default):
Select this when the unit is connected to an audio
component such as amplifier/receiver, CD recorder
or MD deck via the DIGITAL OUT or the HDMI
terminal.
DOLBY DIGITAL Setup (Dual Mono)
STEREO
Normally select this for stereo playback.
Left channel is output from the left speaker, and
right channel is output from the right speaker.
L-MONO
Left channel is output from the left and right
speakers.
R-MONO
Right channel is output from the left and right
speakers.
3D Processing
This setting provides following sound effects:
Off, Concert, Living Room, Hall,
Bathroom, Cave, Arena, Church
Night Mode (Dynamic range control)
ON
Applies dynamic range control to Dolby Digital
material, reducing the volume of loud sounds, and
increasing the volume of quiet ones. This is useful
for spoken word material, etc. as well as nighttime
listening.
OFF (default)
Turns off the audio dynamic compression.
< This function is effective only when playing back a
DVD disc recorded with Dolby Digital. This control
has no effect on other discs.

The overall effect of this setting depends on many
things: the disc being played, the amplifier, and the
speakers used for reproduction.
