Audio Settings (cont.)
Digital Audio Output
Sets the audio signal from the coaxial and optical
digital audio outputs.
Use the / buttons to select Off, PCM, or All.
- Select “Off” if you are not using the digital
audio outputs.
- Select “PCM” (or Pulse Code Modulation) if
the digital audio output is connected to a 2-
channel digital AV preamp.
- Select “All” if the digital audio output is con-
nected to an AV preamp with a Dolby Digital
or DTS surround sound processor.
Night Mode
Reduces the dynamic range (the difference between
the softest and loudest audio portions) of a DVD
sound track. This is a convenient feature for watch
-
ing movies late at night.
Use the / buttons to select On or Off.
Down Sampling
Down samples high definition audio signals if your AV
preamp is not capable of decoding them.
Use the
/ buttons to select On or Off.
- Select “On” if your preamp is NOT capable
of handling 96 kHz signals. The DVD Player
will automatically down sample any 96 kHz
signals to 48 kHz so your system can decode
them.
- Select “Off” if your preamp is capable of
handling 96 kHz signals. The DVD Player will
pass the signal through without any further
processing.
Smart Sound
Provides a variety of preset tone control options by
musical genre.
Use the
/ buttons to select Off, Classical,
Rock, Jazz, or Pop.
