PPRCOPY SUSPEND(SEC) UNIT(D48)
PRIM(X′0057′,7390007,X′07′) SEC(X′053F′,7390014,X′0F′)
2. Check on the secondary device, using QUERY at the recovery site:
PPRCOPY QUERY UNIT(D8C)
3. Issue the RECOVER command at the recovery site:
PPRCOPY RECOVER UNIT(D8C) NVFY
PRIM(X′0057′,7390007,X′07′) SEC(X′053F′,7390014,X′0F′)
The secondary device is now available for use at the recovery site.
5.5.3 Recovering from a Secondary Site Failure
Assume that a secondary site failure occurred after step 6 of 5.5.1, “Setting Up
PPRC Paths and Pairs” on page 37, PPRC has been activated, and the ESTPAIR
was completed. This example shows the recovery at the primary site:
1. Suspend the primary site device, using SUSPEND:
PPRCOPY SUSPEND(PRIM) UNIT(D48)
PRIM(X′0057′,7390007,X′07′) SEC(X′053F′,7390014,X′0F′)
2. Repair the problem with the secondary device.
3. Reestablish the PPRC pair. Update the volume by copying only the changed
track(s), using ESTPAIR:
PPRCOPY ESTPAIR UNIT(D48) MODE(RESYNC)
PRIM(X′0057′,7390007,X′07′) SEC(X′053F′,7390014,X′0F′)
5.5.4 Deleting PPRC Pairs and Paths
Now, assume that you want to terminate the pair—if no failure occurred after
step 6 of 5.5.1, “Setting Up PPRC Paths and Pairs” on page 37. (This example
could be used if you were using PPRC to migrate data from the primary site to
the secondary site.)
1. Issue DELPAIR:
PPRCOPY DELPAIR UNIT(D48)
PRIM(X′0057′,7390007,X′07′) SEC(X′053F′,7390014,X′0F′)
This command must complete before the paths can be deleted.
2. Issue DELPATH:
PPRCOPY DELPATH UNIT(D48) PRIM(X′0057′,7390007) SEC(X′053F′,7390014)
Note: Execute the PPRCOPY DELPATH command if there are no actively
paired devices between the primary and secondary site RVAs. There is no
single ICKDSF command that can identify all active PPRC devices. For each
device attached to an RVA for which you want to suspend a path, you must
use the PPRCOPY QUERY command.
5.6 Physical Connections to the RVA
Neither the logical control unit (LCU) nor the CCA is intuitively obvious.
