IBM SG24-5360-00 Universal Remote User Manual

UP (DVCUP) state, the file will be deleted
unconditionally and the space returned to the RVA
freespace. If the device is DOWN (DVCDN), the
command will be rejected and an error message
provided. Processing multivolume files is the
responsibility of the operator, such that the DDSR
command should be repeated for all volumes
containing file extents.
NOPROMPT
Prevents decision-type messages from being issued. Some
messages require an operator reply before the specified
function is initiated. The specification of the NOPROMPT
keyword causes the system to bypass this decision-type
message and initiates the function without any additional
notice.
B.2.2 Using DDSR to Delete a Single Data Set
To show the effects of using DDSR on the RVA, we deleted a single data set from
the RVA, using the commands in Figure 29.

Figure 29. Console Log from Releasing the Space of One Data Set on a Volume
B.2.3 Using DDSR to Delete the Contents of a Volume
In Figure 30 on page 51, we used the DDSR option to free the entire volume with
serial number PATEV3. After the space was released, all the data and the
volume serial number were erased from the volume. The volume must be
reinitialized to put the volume label back on the device.
