Go to the SETUP screen and set Display menu option "On-Screen Messages" to "On".
Go to the DVD SETUP screen and change the “TV Aspect” setting in the VIDEO menu.
Open the VCR menu to modify the VCR OSD display

Verify that the AC mains lead is properly attached

There is an active timer programme. Press the button to deactivate it.TIMER

Point the remote control unit straight at the remote control signal sensor on the front panel.
Check if the remote control is operating VCR1 or VCR2 (page 33).
Check the distance between the remote control unit and the VCR/DVD (max. 7 metres).
Check the batteries in the remote control unit (page 7).

There is no audio output and
the sound is distorted:

Check the connections.
Deactivate the Advanced Surround effect.
The VCR display does not light up:
The VCR display is on but the
unit does not respond to any input:

This is indicative of a malfunction. The digits following "H" or "F" depend on what state your player is in.
Press [ ] to put the player into standby mode, then briefly unplug and re-connect the AC mains cable.
Contact the aftersales service if this does not remove the problem. Please state the error code
displayed by the set.

The picture is disturbed when searching:

This is a technical issue and not indicative of a malfunction.
The screen outputs no picture:

Check the connections.
Verify that the correct video input of the TV set has been selected.
The picture is cut off at its left
or right edge:

Go to the SETUP screen and check the "TV Aspect" setting in the Video menu.
Check whether the player is directly plugged into the TV set's "AV IN (Scart)" or whether it is going
through a video recorder between the two units.
Check the Zoom setting (page 50).
