26 Setting the Remote Control to Operate a TV
• If you had to program the remote
control to operate your TV, whenev-
er you replace the batteries in the
remote control, you will have to pro-
gram the remote control again.
• If you have a Philips TV or a
Magnavox TV, you can use the
remote control to operate other TV
functions. Press the TV button
before pressing other TV operation
buttons. Details are on pages 20 -
21.

Try step 1 again. If the remote control works your TV, you’re
finished. If the remote control still doesn’t work your TV, repeat
steps 2 - 3, using a different code.

TV CODES
Your VCR remote control may operate your TV. Follow these
steps to set the remote control code.

Point the remote control at your TV. Press the TV but-
ton, then press the POWER button. If your TV turns on or
off, try the CHANNEL Up/Down buttons. If your TV doesn’t turn
on or off, or if the CHANNEL Up/Down buttons don’t work, go
to step 2. If your TV does work, you’re finished.

Find the brand of your TV on the list below, and remem-
ber the two-digit number to the right of it.

Press the MUTE button, then press the TV button. Then
use two Number buttons to enter the two-digit code for
your TV. For example, if you have a Zenith TV, press Number
buttons 1, 5.
There is no guarantee that the remote
control will work your TV.
