WhenpoweredfromtheUSBconnection,JMP6musthaveashuntfrompins1–2(thisisthedefault
factoryconfiguration).Whenpoweredfrom6Vdc-10Vdc,eitherthroughtheJ8terminalblockorJ9barrel
jack,JMP6musthaveashuntinstalledonpins2–3.Ifpowerisappliedinanyoftheseways,onboard
regulatorsgeneratetherequiredsupplyvoltages,andnofurtherpowersuppliesarenecessary.
IflaboratorysuppliesareusedtoprovidetheindividualvoltagesrequiredbytheUSB-MODEVMInterface,
JMP6musthavenoshuntinstalled.VoltagesarethenappliedtoJ2(+5VA),J3(+5VD),J4(+1.8VD),and
J5(+3.3VD).The+1.8VDand+3.3VDcanalsobegeneratedontheboardbytheonboardregulatorsfrom
the+5VDsupply;toenablethisconfiguration,theswitchesonSW1needtobesettoenablethe
regulatorsbyplacingthemintheONposition(lowerposition,lookingattheboardwithtextreading
right-sideup).If+1.8VDand+3.3VDaresuppliedexternally,disabletheonboardregulatorsbyplacing
SW1switchesintheOFFposition.
EachpowersupplyvoltagehasanLED(D1-D7)thatlightswhenthepowersuppliesareactive.
ThefollowingsectionprovidesinformationonusingtheTLV320AIC3007EVM-K,includingsetup,program
installation,andprogramusage.
Note:IfusingtheEVMinstand-alonemode,thesoftwaremustbeinstalledperthefollowing
instructions,butthehardwareconfigurationmaybedifferent.
1.LocatetheinstallationfileontheCD-ROMincludedwiththeEVMordownloadthelatestversionofthe
softwarelocatedontheAIC3007ProductPage.
2.Unziptheinstallationfilebyclickingontheself-extractingzipfile.
3.InstalltheEVMsoftwarebydouble-clickingtheSetupexecutableandfollowthedirections.Usersmay
bepromptedtorestarttheircomputers.
ThisinstallsalltheTLV320AIC3007softwareandrequireddriversontothePC.
1.EnsurethattheTLV320AIC3007EVMisinstalledontheUSB-MODEVMInterfaceboard,aligningJ1,
J2,J3,J4,andJ5withthecorrespondingconnectorsontheUSB-MODEVM.
2.Verifythatthejumpersandswitchesareintheirdefaultconditions.
3.AttachaUSBcablefromthePCtotheUSB-MODEVMInterfaceboard.Thedefaultconfiguration
providespower,controlsignals,andstreamingaudioviatheUSBinterfacefromthePC.Onthe
USB-MODEVM,LEDsD3-6lighttoindicatethepowerisbeingsuppliedfromtheUSB.
4.Forthefirstconnection,thePCrecognizesnewhardwareandbeginsaninitializationprocess.The
usermaybepromptedtoidentifythelocationofthedriversorallowthePCtoautomaticallysearchfor
them.Allowtheautomaticdetectionoption.
5.OncethePCconfirmsthatthehardwareisoperational,D2ontheUSB-MODEVMlightstoindicatethat
thefirmwarehasbeenloadedandtheEVMisreadyforuse.IftheLEDisnotlighted,verifythatthe
driverswereinstalled,trytounplug,andrestartatStep3.
AftertheTLV320AIC3007EVM-Ksoftwareinstallation(describedinSection3.2)iscomplete,evaluation
anddevelopmentusingthetargetTLV320AIC3007canbegin.
