Advanced Operations (Cable Box Hookups)

Use this hookup for slightly improved picture quality and more convenient operation - use of
VCR/TV button is not required.
1. Connect as shown.
This connection requires additional accessories which are not provided.
2. Plug in power cords of VCR, TV, and cable box.
You will tune the TV to its video input to watch the VCR.

 If your cable box has audio/video output jacks, you can also connect the audio/video output
of the cable box and the audio/video input of the VCR. With this connection, press the AVX
button to select L1 as the input channel for the VCR to receive audio/video signal from the
cable box (see page 41).
C. Advanced Hookup (Cable Box to Unscramble Only Pay Channels)

2. Plug in power cords of VCR, TV, and cable box.
You will tune the TV to its video input to watch the VCR. All pay channels are viewed through
the VCR.

 Hooking Up to a DSS Box
DSS Box Position
Position a DSS box on top of the VCR as shown (slanted position).

This connection requires additional accessories which are not provided.
2. Plug in power cords of VCR, TV and DSS box.
 When viewing a DSS program, turn on the VCR, TV and DSS box and press the AVX button
so that "L1" lights in the VCR display, then select the required channel on the DSS box.

*Your VCR cannot receive RF signals from the antenna or cable through the DSS box.
Connect the antenna or cable cord to the IN FROM ANT jack of the VCR, not to the RF
IN/OUT jacks of the DSS box.
 When the DSS box is connected, you cannot control the cable box from the VCR.
