The eTrac Breakout Box
The Breakout Box serves as the system’s hub, connecting the Antenna Unit to ship’s
power and to the desired computer or message terminal. The Breakout Box is not
watertight and must be mounted below decks.
The eTrac E-mail Application
The eTrac system includes a CD-ROM containing information on how to download
the “easyMail” terminal software, a Microsoft Windows
-based e-mail application.
This application, developed by Thrane & Thrane, operates in a similar manner to
Microsoft Outlook
®
but uses the Inmarsat mini-C communications protocol.
Figure 1-2 illustrates how these three components work together.
