TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Check the following before requesting service:
SYMPTOM
GENERAL
No power.
P
ower on, but unit not functioning
properly.
No picture.
No sound.
Playback picture rolls.
The playback picture is poor.
The Search feature is not working.
The picture is not fitting properly.
The remote control is not working.
POSSIBLE SOLUTION
Plug in the AC cord to an AC outlet.
U
nplug the unit and wait about one to
two hours to allow the player to dry.
This unit cannot play discs, other than
the specified discs.
Press the POWER button, then unplug
the AC cord. Wait one minute and then
plug the unit back in.
Clean disc and insert label side-up.
This is normal; try another function.
Connect the equipment according to
the instructions in this manual.
Press the DISC button.
Connect the video cables securely.
Turn the unit on.
Connect the equipment according to
the instructions in this manual.
Press the MUTE or one of the
VOLUME buttons to restore the sound.
Connect the audio cables securely.
Turn the unit on.
Set menu option to NTSC.
Clean the disc.
This is normal on some discs.
Select the TV type (4:3PS, 4:3LB, 16:9)
desired.
Install fresh batteries.
Install batteries according to the diagram.
Aim the remote at the sensor.
Operate within approx. 5 meters, or
reduce the light in the room.
Move obstacle.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
AC cord unplugged.

ondensation has formed.
Wrong type of disc inserted.
Unit needs to be reset.
The disc is dirty or inserted incorrectly.
Some features and functions are not
available on all discs.
The equipment is not connected properly.
The INPUT of the TV is not set to receive
the DVD signal output.
The video cables are not securely
connected.
The connected external unit’s power is off.
The equipment is not connected properly.
The MUTE button is pressed.
The audio cables are not securely
connected.
The connected external unit’s power is off.
Unit needs to be reset to NTSC.
The disc is dirty.
Some discs have sections that do not
allow searching.
Wrong menu option is selected in the
General Setup Menu.
The batteries are weak or dead.
The batteries are not installed properly.
The remote is not aimed at the sensor.
Distance is too far or there is too much
light in the room.
There is an obstacle in the path of the
beam.
