3. Tag Management
Data Replicator allows you to create tags up to 20. The purpose of creating a tag is
to keep “the status of all files and folder on the DS-101j Disk Station at a specific
time” on record. For example, if a software engineer has already completed program
version 1.0 and is preparing to start coding version 2.0. To this engineer version 1.0 is
the version with special representative meaning. While completing all version 1.0
program files, he/she can create a tag for these files at the specific point in time when
uploading these version 1.0 files to the DS-101j Disk Station. To avoid problems
while modifying version 2.0, the engineer can easily restore all 1.0 program files to
his machine for further modification.
Once the number of tags reaches 20, and you want to create more tags, it is required
that you manually delete existing and unwanted tags. Data Replicator will not delete
the oldest tags automatically in this case.
By default the tag name is the date and time while the tag was created. For example,
“0111072228” means the tag is created on November 7, 2001 at 10:28 pm. You may
change the tag name according to your preference.
You can create a tag in 2 ways:
3.1 Creating a tag after files are uploaded
You can create a new tag for uploaded files when uploading files in the “Backup
tab. Select Create a tag after upload, and click OK.
When creating a tag, the files uploaded will not only be tagged with that tag, but
also the existing files on DS-101j Disk Station.
