Managing Interfaces
90 PATROL DashBoard User Guide
Only the permanent circuits are discovered (for example, PVPs and PVCs). Figure 30
illustrates how an ATM interface with VPs and VCs is presented in the navigation
tree:

About QoS
PATROL DashBoard discovers Classes of Service and associated Quality of Service
(QoS) policies for
■ Cisco routers (based on CB-QoS MIB)
■ Bintec routers (based on QoS MIB)
■ Packeteer traffic shapers
PATROL DashBoard discovers the Classes of Service (CoSs) and Bintec Types of
Service (ToSs) associated with physical and logical interfaces. The CoSs manage
traffic in a network by grouping similar types of traffic (such as e-mail, streaming
video, voice, and large document file transfer) together and treating each type as a
class with its own level of service priority. As shown in Figure 31 on page 91, CoSs
are displayed as subordinate objects under
■ physical interfaces, such as ADSL
■ logical interfaces, such as Frame Relay DLCIs
CoS labels end with
(In) or (Out) to differentiate between incoming and outgoing data
flows.
Also shown in Figure 31, Types of Service (ToSs) are displayed in the navigation tree
under a ToS root of an interface. These ToS items are discovered under physical or
logical interfaces. When a new ToS layer crosses the router, its ToS components are
automatically detected by the router and are displayed after a rediscovery.
