OTHER PROBLEMS
SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION
2. The VCR cannot search for the
desired program.
• Two (or more) tape numbers are
recorded on one tape.
• The inserted program is not
recorded on this VCR.
Video Navigation cannot work
correctly on a tape if it has more than
one tape number. If this happens,
fast-forward the tape up to its end,
eject it, and try it again.
It is impossible to search the desired
program which is not recorded on
this VCR using Video Navigation.
3. “MEMORY FULL” appears on the
screen when you try to start
recording.
• The VCR’s memory for Video
Navigation is fully recorded.
Check the remaining memory
(A page 61). If it is full, delete
unnecessary Video Navigation
information (A pages 60, 61).
4. The information data for Video
Navigation is not registered.
• The VCR’s memory for Video
Navigation is fully recorded.
• “NAVIGATION” is set to “OFF”.
• The recording time is not enough.
Check the remaining memory
(A page 61). If it is full, delete
unnecessary Video Navigation
information (A pages 60, 61).
Set “NAVIGATION” to “ON”
(A page 52).
For details on the recording time for
Video Navigation, refer to ‘NOTES’
on page 51.
SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. When scanning channels, some
of them are skipped over.
• Those channels have been preset to
be skipped.
If you need the skipped channels,
restore them (A page 21).
2. The channel cannot be changed. •Recording is in progress. Press [PAUSE (W)] to pause the
recording, change channels, then
press [PLAY (I)] to resume recording.
3. The Remote will not operate your
TV or cable box or DBS receiver.
• The brand codes are set incorrectly. Reset the correct brand codes
(A pages 76, 77).
4. Even though Auto or Semiauto
Clock Set has been performed,
the clock is incorrect.
• The clock setting data received
from the host channel is incorrect.
Select a different host channel during
Semiauto Clock Set (A page 18), or
perform Manual Clock Set
(A page 19).
5. “PM” blinks on the front display
panel.
• The VCR do not work properly. Unplug the AC power plug once,
then plug it again.
6. The subtitles and the menu screen
are overlapped.
• The subtitle display on the TV is set
to on.
Set it to off.
7. The subtitles cannot be displayed. • You are viewing the program in EE
mode through the HDMI
connection.
Make use of the analog connection
(Component Video, S-Video or
Video), and set “TV OUTPUT 2” to
“ALLto480i” (A page 65). However,
if the picture is of 480p image format,
the subtitles cannot be displayed.
