STARTING THE DX8000 CLIENT APPLICATION
This section describes and includes how to start the DX8000 Client application and includes the following topics:

BEFORE YOU START DX8000 CLIENT SOFTWARE
Ensure that the following requirements have been met before starting the DX8000 Client application:
1. Make sure there is at least one active DX8000 Series DVR available on your network and your computer is set up to access it. Consult your
network administrator for more information.
2. Make sure you have a valid, active account on the DX8000 DVR server you want to access. Consult your system administrator if you have
not been assigned a DX8000 user name and password.
3. Make sure IPSec security services are installed and enabled on your PC. For more information, refer to Installing the Client Application on
page 24 and Enabling IPSec Security Services on page 26.
STARTING DX8000 CLIENT SOFTWARE
To avoid potential problems and conflicts within your computer’s video subsystem, run only one instance of the Client application at a time.
To start the DX8000 Client application:
The following figure shows the DX8000 Client icon that is placed on the desktop.

AUTOMATIC SYSTEM UPGRADE
Each time the Client application starts, the system will check the network to see if there is a newer version of the software available for upgrade.
If a new version is found, a message box like the one in the following figure is displayed. When this message box appears, click Yes and the
DX8000 Client software will automatically download the upgrade files, install them, and restart your computer.

To check the current version of software:
Double-click the DX8000 Client icon on your desktop.
Choose Help > About.
