Chapter 3 Operations for Linear/Nonlinear Editing 3-41 (E)
3-2-9 Trimming a Cut
After executing editing by inserting or overwriting cuts, you can use the TRIM
key to perform trimming with the IN or OUT points. You can also perform the
same operations with the results of conventional linear editing with the BVE
editor.
Note
Turning off the MAV-555 clears the cut point information. Before turning off
the MAV-555, be sure to save the cut point information of cuts that you want
to trim later.
Overview of Trimming
Trimming Operation Modes
When you use the MAVE-F555 editing panel for editing, you can choose one
of the following modes: INSERT mode, OVERWRITE mode, EXTRACT
mode, and LIFT mode.
The following modes are usually used together for editing.
1 INSERT/EXTRACT Mode
Use this mode to trim and change the total duration of the file. During
trimming use the INSERT mode to move the IN point ahead of its original
position or move the OUT point behind its original position, the same as
during the normal INSERT mode. To perform the reverse, use the same
procedure in the EXTRACT mode. See page 3-42 for examples.
2 OVERWRITE/LIFT Mode
Operations in this mode do not change the total duration of the file.
During trimming use the OVERWRITE mode to move the IN point ahead
of its original position or move the OUT point behind its original position,
the same as during the normal OVERWRITE mode. To perform the
reverse, use the same procedure in the LIFT mode. See page 3-43 for
examples.
