2.5.2 Checking Out the System Without an IRD
Data Connection
To ensure that the system is configured and operating properly,
you will need to check the data provided in the system’s startup
routine.
To do so, you need to connect a PC to the antenna baseplate’s
maintenance port. The diagnostics procedure requires terminal
emulation software such as PROCOMM or Windows Terminal or
Hyperterminal. Use the settings appropriate to your application.
1. Connect one end of a PC data cable to the
maintenance port connector located on the rear of
the switchplate (see Figure 2-16). To access this
connector, you may need to remove the switchplate from
the mounting surface.
2. Connect the other end of the PC data cable to the
serial port on the PC (a 9-pin/25-pin connector
adapter may be needed for some PCs).
3. Open the terminal emulation software and
establish the following settings:
•9600 baud
• no parity
•8 data bits
•1 start bit
•1 stop bit
• no flow control
