Chapter 3 Operations for Linear/Nonlinear Editing 3-45 (E)
Temporary files used in trimming
When the TRIM key is pressed to start trimming, a temporary file to be used
for trimming is automatically created. The trimming operation is performed
only on this file (the Player port is not used).
Note the following points about the temporary file used for trimming:
• The channel designated for trimming uses the original material.
• Other channels use the edit material on the Recorder.
You can use the BVE editor JOG dial to search for and find a new IN point (or
OUT point) in the temporary file, and set these points with the MARK IN or
MARK OUT keys on the MAVE-F555.
During search, you can search for edit materials on channels other than the
channel targeted for editing. For example, while editing on the VIDEO
channel, you can while the file is open search for edit material on the AUDIO
channel. Conversely, while trimming on the AUDIO channel, you can search
for edit material while viewing the VIDEO channel.
When trimming the OUT point on the VIDEO channel, the temporary file is
created as shown below.

Dual Screen Trimming
When the TRIM key is pressed to start trimming and the conditions below are
satisfied, the monitor screen is split into two screens. Trimming can be
performed while viewing the borders of the cut.
• MAVE-D555 is connected.
• The Effect board (BKMA-560) must be installed.
• P2 Port must be selected for item 324 “MAVE-F555 PORT” of the MAV-
555 Expansion menu.
• MAV-555 P2 Port must not be set for PLAY.
If the above four conditions are satisfied, 2-screen trimming begins. If any of
the conditions is not satisfied, 1-port trimming is performed, just as with Ver.
