8-11. Setting the Audio
PCM (Digital)
Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) decoders support L/R stereo only. If selected, audio outputs are
decoded and transmitted to the Digital Output (SPDIF) in PCM mode.
Dolby Digital
Dolby Digital, formally known as AC-3 for Audio Coding 3rd Generation or 5.1 channel audio,
is a coding technique that provides five independent, full frequency response audio channels
and one low frequency bass channel. Dolby Digital signals are available only when provided by
the broadcaster.
